Light sketch series 2

For this series we used 4 textiles two warm and two cool. The lamps used for this project were fluorescent and incandescent.
The changes in that mainly took place with the textiles were that depending on the type of lamp used their colors were either brightened or dulled. For this project we used MR-16s and incandescent lamps.

Both types of lamps were used in a kitchen. The kitchen is a space where there needs to be a lot of ambient and focal or task lighting. There needs to be an overall type of lighting that brightens the space for those using kitchen for its purpose, but also a kitchen needs task lighting when certain tasks require a more focal point to give the person a better view while carrying out the task. Also this particular kitchen has a bar seating area so there needs to be some focal lighting to just brighten the sitting area when the cooking is done.
I believe that kitchens are some of the most well lit areas in a house. They have so many task lights whether its under the hood over the stove, or under cabinets, over sinks or just the main light they are usually very bright and well equipped.

These pictures were taken with the MR-16s they seem to wash out the cooler colors and brightened the warmer colors.

The lamp used for these was the warm incandescent warm. It made the warm colors pop out more and the cooler colors brighten up and look sharper.

Light Model Project

Precedent Images inspired our light model. They are lights that inspire movement and transition and how light hitting a white surface reflect and interact within the space. The O'Hare Chicago airport for example has LED color panels that change and are set to create transition and movement. Our light box idea was about showing light transitioning and changing. We also got inspired by the slits found on windows and how by the way they are positioned create different filters and light effects.
